ANQ 20th S-AGM (Special AGM) Concluded

The Association of Nepalese in Quebec (ANQ) convened its "Special"-Annual General Meeting (S-AGM) on March 30, 2024, at 10:00 am, in La salle polyvalente, Marie-Paule- Levaque (2nd floor), 12225 rue Grenet, Montréal, after two and a half months into its second term. The AGM witnessed the highest member participation in its history, with over 100 attendees, some of whom were in the process of becoming official members.Â
The meeting commenced under the leadership of Mr. Bal Mukunda Maharjan. The outgoing president, Mr. Purushottam Bhusal initiated the proceedings by extending a warm welcome to all attendees and announcing his resignation from the presidential position. Subsequently, other members of the outgoing team also resigned. A significant portion of the meeting was dedicated to reflecting on past experiences, gathering feedback, and discussing suggestions for ensuring good governance in the future.
The election committee, comprising Mr. Prakash Mungrati, Dr. Hemant Poudel, and Mr. Pabitra Upadhyaya, presented the nominations for the positions of president, general secretary, and treasurer. Following deliberations, the S-AGM unanimously elected a new executive committee with eleven members to lead the organization for the fiscal year 2024/2026. The newly appointed executive committee has the following portfolio:
