Montreal, April 15, 2012 - Welcome to the year of new hope, new plan, and everything new for each of us: Happy New Year 2069 BS! Yes, we did. We whole Association of Nepalese in Quebec (ANQ) family together celebrated Nepali New Year 2069 BS by organising a grand party at 300 Marcel Laurin, Montreal QC. All ANQ members, friends and families were invited, and most of them were present to greet each other and to celebrate the event. Because of hard work of our cultural show instructors and dedication of our kids, we were able to see their flourishing talents in the form of different shows: singing, poem reading, dances, etc. And, not forget to mention, we were very happy to have our few Canadian friends, who loved Nepal and Nepali culture, and guests at the event.
The event started with Nepalese and Canadian national anthem. Patrick Baral, a young ANQ member, welcomed all the participants. Prakash Mungrati, former president of ANQ, and Dr. Hemant Paudel, Advisor of ANQ, greeted all the Nepalese and wished a very happy new year. Dr. Paudel appreciated new initiatives taken by ANQ team. President of ANQ - Muga Rajbhandari - welcomed and extended new year wishes on behalf of ANQ. He also highlighted ANQ activities and new initiatives inspiring all participants. Ms Hélène and Ms Eva also spoke and greeted Nepalese friends on the occasion.
Cultural program was started by Shyam Tamang, co-ordinator of Cultural Sub-Committee, introducing participants of cultural program and sub-committee members. Young talented kids performed various Nepali songs and entertained all. Participants in the cultural program were: Anjila Budha Magar, Iksa Limbu, Isha Rajbhandari, Rista Bhusal, Suruchi Mungrati, Renchen Sherpa, Rubin Piya, Sanskriti Rana, Rajeshwori Rana, Saugat Shrestha, Vishwa Thapa and Namrata Dahal. Group dances performed by participants were enjoyable. Couple dance by veteran dancer duo Mr. and Mrs. Rajesh Kanel was one of the greatest attractions during the celebration!
We also organized a farewell ceremony for our well known members, Mr. and Mrs. Hemanta Kumar Dahal, because they recently moved to Mississauga, Toronto. Mr. Dahal has been actively serving and playing a key role in development of ANQ from the very begining days. President Muga Rajbhandari and Advisor Dr. Hemant Paudel highlighted the contribution made by Hemant Dahal to ANQ and to Nepalese society in Quebec. Dahal couple was honored by President with Khada and Vice-President Gita Baral handed over a token of love and appreciation on behalf of ANQ. Hemant Dahal became nostalgic remembering old days here in Montreal. We all wish him a great success in his career and happiness for his family.
Towards the end of the celebration, certificates of appreciation were distributed to the participants/volunteers of recent ANQ events including Skating Event, Blood Drive and Cultural Program. To make the get-together something special, we have chosen a new place, new diner course, and some changes in the program hierarchy. We hope you all enjoyed it. It wouldn't have been a success without the support of you and our hard working volunteers. Thank you all. Please do send us feedbacks so that we can make such events even better from the next on. Once again, we would like to express a HAPPY NEW YEAR 2069 BS to all of you: members, friends and families !
